James MarkmanAbout James —

Prior to my arrival at Hillsdale, I served four years in the Army and was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, with the 82nd Airborne Division. I completed two tours overseas as a Trauma Medic and ultimately achieved the rank of Sergeant (E-5). I was the youngest Sergeant at Fort Bragg and served as the Aide-de-Camp to the Brigade Commander of the 18th Airborne Field Artillery. I am presently pursuing a bachelors in biology with the intent of attending a Michgan medical program.

“I chose to attend Hillsdale due in part to the ease of transition from the tremendously patriotic environment of the active duty military to a similarly patriotic environment at Hillsdale College. In addition to the serving as the House Director for the house, I volunteer with Big Brothers, Big Sisters and serve on the Hillsdale City Fire Department”

What you think of Sigma Chi and specifically the Alpha Kappa chapter? —

“I have been impressed with those I worked with last spring and through the summer, and look forward to getting to know each of the Sigs a bit better in the upcoming year. I have been working closely with the house leadership in an effort to make Sigma Chi a quality place. Over the summer, I have put in a good amount of effort to improve the house and I am confident the guys will not only appreciate those efforts, but will work to contribute toward the house themselves in order to make the house an awesome place to live and spend some free time. I look forward to each new house project, each new class of pledges, and perhaps most of all, each solid conversation with one of the guys.”
