Dr. Thomas “Doc” Conner
Hometown: Downingtown, Pennsylvania
A little about “Doc”:
Have lived in three different regions of the country–Northeast, South, and Midwest–and enjoyed it all. Travel frequently to Europe, and consider France my “second country.” Will turn 60 in May 2010, but can still survive on the racquetball court with guys less than half my age. Have enjoyed seeing Hillsdale College grow and prosper and strengthen its academic program and national reputation during the years I have spent here. Am still unmarried, and hoping to settle down with a cute 25-year old someday (if she’ll have me)!
Why Sigma Chi? —
Because I have always been impressed with the caliber of young man attracted to our Fraternity, and because I have come to revere what Sigma Chi stands for and, at its best, seeks to promote. When originally asked to be Faculty Advisor (in 1984), I readily accepted. When asked to initiate (in Fall 1986), I did likewise, and joined the Fraternity in January 1987. Am still very proud to be a Sigma Chi.
What has been your favorite experience with Sigma Chi?—
Having the opportunity to get to know the brothers individually and to spend meaningful time with them, especially at important moments of their lives.
